Grain & Food Research
Grain and Food Research
In house expertise and facilities enable BRI Australia to provide highly specialised analytical and consultancy services (including chemometric techniques and software). Plant breeders, food quality assessors, grain scientists and farmers who desire a more intimate understanding of genotypical and phenotypical traits and their impact on food processing and quality utilise BRI's expertise and project management ability.
Grains Research
"We play a leading role in the smart use of technoligies for objective grain quality testing."
We conduct contract research in the areas of plant genetics, breeding and grain quality testing - specialising in the development of objective test methods such as Near Infrared Spectroscopy (NIR), Single Kernel Characterisation System (SKCS) and image analysis.
Our key approach utilises crush response profiles to enable curves to be interpreted in terms of "rheology" of the grain (toughness etc).
We also assist industry to "think outside the square" and find new markets.
Through our leadership in NIR research, new applications are emerging for that technology.
Grain Quality Testing
"BRI Australia is the National Wheat Quality Testing Laboratory for Australia".
Quality assessment of cereal, pulse and other grains is routinely performed in our laboratories. BRI Australia is NATA accredited for key grain receival tests and offers a wide range of grain testing services to suit your needs including physical grain tests, visual assessment, chemical analysis, milling and grain processing testing and end product assessment.
